Limassol EnviWear, Raster MRT and Human Perception Linkage

Stop-based linkage of EnviWear measurements, raster MRT, UTCI, and repeated perception responses collected during the urban walk.

Methodology framework

This section follows the uploaded methodology structure: the EnviWear stream passes through data processing and microclimate processing, while the human perception survey stream directly feeds the integrated dataset.

Route map controls

Equal interval uses equal value ranges. Quantile balances the number of route points per class. Natural breaks groups similar values. Standard deviation highlights deviation from the mean. Geometric interval is useful for skewed positive variables.

Stop cards

UTCI is recalculated using EnviWear Ta, RH, WS and MRT.

Participant and response structure

This section separates the number of people from the number of questionnaire records. The analysis uses repeated responses from the same participant group across different stop locations. Environmental measurements were collected by one mobile EnviWear backpack sensor, not by individual participant devices.

20 Total people who participated in the field walk / survey activity.
1 Mobile EnviWear backpack sensor used to collect route environmental measurements.
5 Stop locations where the group paused and completed the questionnaire.
83 Total stop-level questionnaire responses after repeated answering across stops.
Repeated The 83 responses are not 83 independent participants. They are repeated stop-level responses.

How to read the sample size

  • Total participants: 20 people joined the field activity.
  • Environmental sensing: one mobile EnviWear backpack sensor was carried along the route.
  • Response records: n = 83 refers to repeated questionnaire responses collected across five stops.
  • Important: n = 83 should be reported as response records or observations, not as independent participants.

Clothing information

  • Clothing was collected as part of the participant information in the questionnaire.
  • Clothing helps contextualize thermal sensation and thermal comfort responses.
  • For UTCI calculation, the methodology uses the standard stated assumption of 0.6 clo.
  • In the paper, this can be written as: clothing information was recorded, while UTCI was calculated using the standard 0.6 clo assumption.

Graphical interpretation dashboard

This section uses richer visual summaries instead of plain bar charts: stop fingerprints, perception heatmaps, objective-subjective scatter plots, and interactive stacked response distributions.

Microclimate fingerprint by stop

Normalized environmental variables. Higher values indicate stronger relative exposure within this walking survey.

Perception score heatmap

Mean response scores by stop. Darker cells indicate stronger sensation, discomfort, or poorer perceived quality depending on the scale.

Radiant and ventilation relationship

Stop-level relation between MRT, UTCI, wind speed and hot thermal sensation share.

Ranked stop comparison

Environmental and perception ranking across the five survey stops.

Interactive response distribution

Choose a perception domain to view the complete five-class distribution. Zero-count classes remain visible in the legend.

Observed response tables

All 5 questionnaire classes are visible. Missing or unused classes are shown with 0 rather than hidden.
