The International Spring School on Visualization<\/strong> (ISSonVis) provided an opportunity for the encounter of students, scholars, and experts in the field of geovisualisation. People and their ideas about space have always helped to shape the history and cultures of nations. Maps, history and culture integrate the study of technical, natural and social sciences.<\/p>

The promotion of interdisciplinary dialogue that transcends traditional historical, geographical or methodological boundaries, and develops new analytical approaches to spatial thinking in historical context and cultural imagination was involves in ISSonVis.<\/p>

The ISSonVis 2022 is subdivided into lectures, guided practices and edutainment sessions. With the distinctions of technical, natural and social dimensions of the maps, culture, and diversity, transdisciplinary discussions will occur, considering mapping techniques, landscape, literature, ethnography and ethnology. \u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Moreover, the Spring School strived to establish an open platform for participants to bring their experiences, ideas, data, and projects to share, work, present, and discuss. The Spring School primary focus was to provide and transfer new geovisualisation skills, techniques, and knowledge both ways \u2013 from scholars\/experts to the students, and vice versa. The International Spring School 2022 was designed to be fully online and dedicated to students (Bachelor, Master, PhD).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To start with a brief ove<\/span>rview introduction was given<\/span> by Dr Zahra Dabiri<\/span> about the activities in<\/span>
Summer School and the expected outcomes.<\/span> To follow with Dr Stefan Lang provided concepts for<\/span> Earth Observation based biotope type mapping<\/span> and Environmental<\/span> Monitoring<\/span>.<\/span> Main points of t<\/span>he<\/span> discussion were as<\/span> flows<\/span><\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– United Nations Conventions<\/span> (CCD, CBD)<\/span> United Nations Convention to Combat<\/span> Desertification<\/span>,<\/span> Commercial Biodiversity<\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Land Use and Land Use Change in Forestry (<\/span>LULUCF<\/span>)<\/span> is the next new thing<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– Illegal<\/span> logging,<\/span> f<\/span>orest stra<\/span>te<\/span>gy,<\/span> Carbon trade.<\/span><\/span>
Common Agricultural Policy<\/span> (CAP)<\/span> t<\/span>o control the crop dy<\/span>n<\/span>amics<\/span> a<\/span>nd what the farmers do.<\/span><\/span>

– DRR Disaster Risk Reduction<\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

– CBD 1992 was a political decision to halt biodiversity<\/span> loss<\/span>. There is nothing related to how to<\/span> measure loss of biodiversity.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The general topics will cover the following themes:<\/p>

  • Copernicus Big data\/ EO data acquisition including Satellite Image Time Series in the big EO data context, Analyses in (Semantic) EO data cubes, Investigating surface changes using the Austrian semantic EO data cube<\/li>
  • Radar: applications and methods, including mass movement with a focus on interferometry and velocity estimation<\/li>
  • Glaciers mapping using EO data and CNN<\/li>
  • In-Situ data collection, including UAV flight preparation and data collection<\/li>
  • The group works was presented in a special session in GI-Salzburg 2022.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    <\/span>Professor Benjamin Robson gave a short overview on how to process UAV data in Agisoft software.<\/span>
    The main output of the exercise was orthomosaic imagery.<\/span><\/span> A short session on project management through Github was demonstrated by Dr Martin Sudsmann.<\/span>
    Later that day students formed groups and selected one of the four topics that were learned during<\/span> the Summer School. Every started the preparation of presentation<\/span> in the later half.<\/span> S<\/span>tudents in<\/span>Summer School were supposed to present their topic<\/span>s in GI Salzburg Conference<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>
    GI Salzburg Conference was held on 5<\/span>th<\/span> July 2022<\/span>.<\/span> I presented the topic \u201cGlacial Mapping Using<\/span> Convolutional Neural Network and Object Based Ima<\/span>ge Analysis\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
